Where Music & Art Intersect

  1. One, such as a studio or producer, that is unaffiliated with a larger or more commercial organization.
  2. An artistic work produced by an independent company or group.
I love what happens when music and art intersect.  But when indie artists from different creative worlds unite, that’s just ultra special to me.  Power to the little people, right?  I stumbled upon one such collaboration this morning as I perused some of my favorite sites.  It appears that Brooklyn band The Walkmen tapped Etsy to design merchandise around their new album Lisbon, which dropped on Fat Possum Records earlier this week.  Three talented Etsy artists – Little Tired, Beau Ideal, and Sheepshead – designed t-shirts, limited edition silk-screened cd inserts, and a poster to promote the album and the city that inspired its name.
In other exciting news, Standard Style Boutique and standardsocial.com are bringing The Walkmen to Kansas City on Thursday, September 30th for their much-anticipated rooftop fall fashion show, VIEWS.  The band is the featured musical guest and will perform as you enjoy looks from the latest fall fashion trends and designs, and sample fare provided by local restaurants.  And, as if that’s not enough local fun, there’s an after-party.  Holla!  Check out the video.
