On the ___ Day of Christmas…

12 Dec

My true love gave to me – a 3-day/3-night stay at the luxurious Omphoy Hotel in Palm Beach including formula car racing instruction and training at the Skip Barber Racing School.  Travel packages with generous discounts are on sale now at Jetsetter.com.  And the packages include your own driving suit and helmet!  How cool is that?!

Though this probably isn’t in our Christmas budget this year (sorry, sweetie!) I’m keeping this in my back pocket for next year.  Here’s hoping!

Holiday Printables

6 Dec

Good Morning! I saw these gift tags on one of my favorite blogs, Eat Drink Chic over the weekend and I had to share them with you. I love the whimsical letters and it is so nice to find some holiday items that are black and white so you can choose your own colors and paper. You might need to do some more shopping just so you can use them.

You can download these freebies from Eat Drink Chic here. Have fun!

The 2010 Best Holiday Windows in Kansas City Contest

3 Dec

We are always, and I mean constantly, on the look-out for great window displays, but particularly at this time of year when the weather turns colder, you hear holiday music on the radio, and everyone is rushing in and out of stores in gift buying mode.  Perhaps it is the retail merchandising background in us or maybe it is just a true love for pretty things or, more likely, it is a combination of those two things that drives our obsession.  Yes, we think it could be diagnosed as an obsession.

For this reason, we are very excited to host the 1st Annual Holiday Windows contest here on the Style Studio site!  Here’s how it works:

To enter your favorite retailer either enter your nomination in the comment section below or tweet us @kcstylestudio by December 10th.  We will tabulate all the entries and on December 13th post photos of the TOP 5 and you can vote for your favorite.

We will announce the winner on Tuesday, December 21st and they will receive both a lovely certificate and the distinct honor of having been chosen by the people!

Ready, set, go….

Sweet Treats

1 Dec

I have been racking my brain trying to think of something I could make and give to friends this holiday season when I came across these peppermint fudge cupcake jars today.  More original than the standard holiday cookie or homemade cocoa, these sweet, festive, and self-contained treats are just the ticket.  The ladies of Our Best Bites do more than just offer up a recipe.  They also share their trick for how to give the frosting that peppermint striped look.  And I really appreciate that they included the pdf of the little gift tag that goes on top of the jar, too!  Thanks to Sara and Kate of Our Best Bites – for this super cute idea!

If you are a little hesitant to try the jars or would just like to make a regular cupcake, you can do that too!
