On the ___ Day of Christmas…

12 Dec

My true love gave to me – a 3-day/3-night stay at the luxurious Omphoy Hotel in Palm Beach including formula car racing instruction and training at the Skip Barber Racing School.  Travel packages with generous discounts are on sale now at  And the packages include your own driving suit and helmet!  How cool is that?!

Though this probably isn’t in our Christmas budget this year (sorry, sweetie!) I’m keeping this in my back pocket for next year.  Here’s hoping!

This And That

22 Oct

We wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t leave you with a little something to inspire and get you through the weekend.  So, here goes.

1.)  Banyan Tree Samui, a luxury villa resort set into a hillside overlooking Lamai Bay in Thailand.  Check out this beauty and other equally-fabulous luxury resorts on sale at some amazing prices on Jetsetter.

2.)  I always make it a point to log on (and log on early) to browse the weekend Tastemaker Tag Sales on One King’s Lane for great buys on home decor items.  You’ll find antique/vintage/gently used, one-of-a-kind pieces hand-selected by leading interior designers at 70% off retail.  This weekend’s sales feature Suzanne Tucker and Hillary Thomas and start tomorrow at 10 a.m.  Ready, set…..

3.)  I’ve been turned on to this Russian artist, Yulia Brodskaya, who does some pretty amazingly beautiful things with paper.  You can see more of her work here.

4.)  Are you ready to turn that pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern?  For some inspired designs that will make even you glow, click here.

5.)  I was thrilled to see the Crate & Barrel holiday catalog in my mail today and I must say that it is absolutely stunning.  You can bet I’ll be dog-earing pages in this one.  If you haven’t received your copy yet, don’t fret.  You can view it on-line here.

6.)  We will be baking and decorating some cookies for Halloween this weekend with some friends.  I love these vampire cookies from Dean & Deluca.  Take a peek at some of the other Halloween goodies they have, but don’t blame me for the weight gain!We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Eat Pray Love…Travel

4 Oct

I saw the movie Eat Pray Love with some friends a few weeks ago.  The story, and memoir of the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, chronicles Gilbert’s struggle to re-discover herself as she travels to Italy, India, and Indonesia after suffering a painful divorce.  Though reviews of the movie have been all over the board, there are several parts of her story that resonate with me.  More than anything, though, I walked out of the theater feeling inspired; inspired by the authentic and colorful food, the amazingly beautiful scenery, and the very sweet and genuine characters she met while on her journey of self discovery.

She ended her year of travel in Bali.  Those particular scenes in the movie were breathtaking, offering up a literal feast for my eyes.  So when I opened my Jetsetter e-mail the other day and saw the Alila Villas Soori in Bali on sale, I knew I had to open it up and take a peek.  The resort itself sits on a long stretch of black sand beach overlooking the Indian Ocean, every villa has a private pool, and the staff is known for its personal service.

I think there is a really good chance that I could re-discover myself here.  Who’s with me?

Maison Moschino: Designer Dreams

22 Sep

Jetsetter is my absolute favorite members-only travel site to browse for deals on some pretty amazing hotels and vacations.  I recently took a short weekend trip with some of my best girlfriends to the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa through them which was fabulous.  I came across a hotel on their site the other day that was so unique I knew I had to book it and get right on a plane to Italy.  Or at the very least, share it with you.

Italian label Moschino (pronounced moss-ski-no) is among the latest in a line of fashion houses to open its own concept hotel, Maison Moschino, which debuted earlier this year in Milan.  It is, in true Moschino style, very sleek.  And stylish.  And whimsical.  Located in an old neoclassical railway station that dates back to 1840, the interior 65 rooms and suites are all different.  Each room is designed around a fairy tale theme as interpreted in Moschino’s distinctive style by Rosella Jardini and their entire creative team.

Feast your eyes on some of my favorite images.  Can you guess the theme of each room?

The neoclassical façade which stays true to its original style belies a whimsical wonderland which is immediately noticeable upon entry into the grand hotel.

Minimalist furnishings offer a blank canvas for a unique and contemporary  interpretation of classic fairy tales in the 65 rooms and suites.

Not surprising to those who know me, this is my favorite of all 65 rooms.  Delicious!

This runs a close second, though.  A bed fit for a queen!

I just love this little owl!

White, billowy, illuminated.  Quindi molto Moschino!

Anthology: a new design magazine!

14 Sep

A great big thank you to Anh-Minh Le and Meg Mateo Ilasco for bringing us a brand new PRINT magazine due out this October.

Anthology is a new quarterly shelter and lifestyle magazine that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home décor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. I can’t wait to get my hands on that first issue!

Check out this great stop-motion video!
